Unicode characters, not a smaller font

The generator replaces supported characters with other Unicode characters that often render smaller. It does not apply a font size, and it cannot make a complete miniature alphabet because Unicode does not provide one.

A mapped result comes from this project’s reviewed registry. An approximation is only a visual substitute. An unchanged character is preserved exactly so the tool does not hide a gap.

A careful three-step workflow

Check coverage and open the character ledger when a result contains gaps or approximations.
Copy the result, test it in the destination, and keep a plain-text alternative for important information.

When ordinary text is safer

Small Unicode text can be hard to search, edit, pronounce with a screen reader, or render with a limited font. Do not rely on it for instructions, legal text, contact details, account identifiers, passwords, URLs, or content that must be understood by everyone.

The destination application may normalize, reject, or display a missing glyph. A successful copy confirms only that the browser wrote the characters to the clipboard.

Registry and sources

The registry is curated against Unicode 17.0.0 names lists for Phonetic Extensions and Superscripts and Subscripts. Unicode defines the characters and their properties; it does not endorse a general-purpose “small text” alphabet.

Mappings are versioned, tested against mixed scripts and emoji, and corrected when a character is misleading. The guide explains the provenance and limitations in detail.

Questions about small Unicode text

Why did some letters stay normal?

Unicode has no complete small alphabet. Strict mode preserves every unsupported grapheme; decorative mode adds only reviewed approximations and labels them.

Does small text work everywhere?

No. Rendering depends on fonts, operating systems, browsers, and destination apps. Always paste a test and keep important information in ordinary text.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. Conversion, diagnostics, and recovery run in page memory. The text is not placed in the URL or stored as a history.

Can the recovery tool decode any small text?

No. It only reverses mappings known to this version of the registry. It preserves unknown characters and reports ambiguity instead of guessing.
